They say a picture is worth a thousand words and we want to show you why. One of the ways we do this is through the use of a high-tech tool, the intra-oral camera. This amazing device is a miniature video camera that displays a close-up picture of the inside of your mouth. Our dentist and dental hygienists display the images on a large screen, so you can see what work needs to be done and which teeth are doing fine. Cape Fear Smiles want you to participate in each dental decision. You’ll love how this works!
New digital X-ray technology uses up to 80% less radiation than older X-rays! This means we can expose our patients to less radiation while using less energy. In addition, our modern digital X-ray system uses reusable sensor plates instead of film; that means no harsh, toxic chemicals for the developing process and no disposable plastic wrappers that contain lead.

Due to their cost, they are used in cases Our office uses a secure and encrypted computer system to safely store our patient charts. We can view the patient’s chart anywhere in the office over our secure computer system. This makes us more efficient and also helps our environment by saving around 10,000 sheets of paper annually.
You would be surprised by the number of different products we use to treat you and your family. We believe resources are valuable, so instead of putting everything in the trash, we take the extra time to recycle items such as paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum.
Sanitation and Sterilization
Whenever possible, our office uses bactericidal hand cleansers to cut down on water consumption. Sterilization of dental instruments can often involve harsh chemicals so instead, we use a steam-based sterilization technique with no toxic chemicals.
