We select our doctors for many reasons. Location or recommendation by a friend are the most common reasons. Often, the patient knows very little about the training or background of their dentist, so we would like to introduce you to some facts about our doctors.
Norma Cortez, DDS, PA
Born in Peru, Dr. Cortez came to the United States when she was 18 years old with a goal to pursue her education. With two athletic scholarships from MDCC, she did just that. Dr. Cortez obtained her undergraduate in Biology and her degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her time in dental school, she volunteered in various dental organizations designed to help the community around Chapel Hill. Once she finished dental school, she moved to the Wilmington area where she met her husband, George. Dr. Cortez, her husband, and their two children, Christian and Sebastian, currently live in Ogden along with their two dogs, Princess and Shane. They are excited to call Wilmington their home and are happy to be raising their family here! Dr. Cortez has won “best dentists” awards for several years in a row for the quality of care she provides.
Alexander Hicks, DMD
Dr. Alexander Hicks earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He practiced general dentistry for two years in Pennsylvania before relocating to North Carolina with his family.
Dr. Hicks is committed to providing the highest quality dental care in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. He has dedicated countless hours of continuing education to digital dentistry techniques to provide his patients with accurate and reliable results. He is widely recognized for his attention to detail and gentle care of patients.
Outside of the office, Dr. Hicks spends most of his time with his wife and dog at the beach or relaxing by the pool. He can also be found playing pickleball with his friends.
